What is the issue?

 

Decontamination is essential to ensure reusable instruments are safe for use on patients. Several processes and machines are required to render instruments clean and sterile for use on subsequent patients.

With this ECPD course, you will understand how to validate dental equipment and decontamination processes according to UK legislation.

Objectives​

  • Define key terms and describe the purpose of validation in the dental context.
  • Identify processes that can be validated and those that cannot.
  • Explain the method, process & equipment required for validation of autoclaves (B/N).
  • Explain the method, process and equipment required for validation of
    washer disinfector.
  • Explain the method, process and equipment required for validation of ultrasonic baths.
  • Demonstrate compliance by using the correct method of validation.
  • Demonstrate compliance by completing records and audits.
