Dental suction cleaning and maintenance is a vital daily task for any dental practice. Poor maintenance of suction systems can lead to poor performance of the system, bad smells and potentially patient infection.

Dental Suction Cleaning and Maintenance with AlproJet
From the manufacturers of the Alpron BRS system comes the AlproJet dental suction cleaning and maintenance system.
The AlproJet dental suction and maintenance system is a dual-action product for the gentle cleaning and disinfection of dental and medical aspirator systems. When used in combination,
AlproJet-DD and AlproJet-W break down contaminants and heavy soiling, dissolving residues and blood so they can easily drain from the separator leaving a clean and safe aspiration system.
Benefits of the AlproJet dual action cleaning system
The two-product system utilises alternating acid and alkaline solutions to ensure a superior clean that single cleaners cannot achieve:
Acidic solution – AlproJet-W: Specifically formulated to remove stubborn inorganic build-up, including hardened water scale, mineral deposits, and prophylaxis residue. Used twice a week.
Alkaline solution – AlproJet-DD. Used for daily maintenance to eliminate organic matter like blood, saliva, and proteins. Used 3 times a week with an excellent disinfectant effect, Certified by VAH (Association for Applied Hygiene) /DGHM (German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology), meets the DGHM requirements and EN standards for the disinfection of instruments
By alternating these solutions, you prevent all types of material build-up, which is essential for maximising suction performance, extending the lifespan of your vacuum system, and ensuring amalgam separator efficiency.
Outstanding material compatibility
AlproJet dental suction cleaning and maintenance system has excellent material compatibility and is approved by major manufacturers, including Dentsply Sirona, Belmont, Cattani, NSK, Morita.
Alpro Medical have conducted extensive material testing with many aspiration systems to guarantee that all users of separation systems or amalgam separation systems from any manufacturer can be assured that AlproJet will not cause any damage if applied according to the instructions for use issued by Alpro Medical.
How to use AlproJet - Standard Operating Procedure
How to use AlproJet - Usage Protocols
The AlproJet system is highly versatile, offering adaptable protocols to perfectly match the specific needs and volume of your practice. The following usage protocols are recommended:
User guide
Step 1 - Mix the AlproJet Solution
A single application of AlproJet is 2 litres of mixed solution. Measure out the correct amount of AlproJet solution and add to warm water
(40-50 degrees) and mix. For daily maintenance the amounts are as follows:
AlproJet-W – 100mls of AlproJet-W to 1900mls warm water (5% solution)
AlproJet-DD – 40mls of AlproJet-DD to 1960mls warm water (2% solution)
Step 2 - Attach Hoses and Aspirate
Attach Aspirator hoses, the spray mist aspiration hose/HVE to the end with the large opening and the saliva aspirator/ejector to the end with the small opening.
Aspirate the solution, taking up approximately 1 litre of solution. If you are using the AlproJet Application Jug, the jug will aspirate exactly 1 litre of solution.
Step 3 - Spittoon Line Cleaning
Pour the remaining 1 litre of solution down the spittoon
Step 4 - Contact Time
For AlproJet-W leave in the lines for a minimum of 30 minutes.
For AlproJet-DD leave in the lines for a minimum of 60 minutes.
Ideally leave both AlproJet-W and DD in the system overnight.
Step 5 - Rinsing the system
Rinse aspirator tubes and spittoon thoroughly with water prior to starting clinical work.
Special Applications
In addition to routine cleaning and maintenance of aspirator systems, AlproJet also has several specialist application for pre-emptive maintenance and deep cleaning.
Prior to oral surgery
AlproJet-W can be used to prevent foaming that can occur during surgery due to blood and hydrogen peroxide mixing, especially important during long and complex surgeries. Prior to such procedures, aspirate 1 litre of mixed 5% AlproJet-W solution (50ml of AlproJet-W to 950ml of water). Use cold water for this application.
Using AlproJet-W pre-emptively in this manner will prevent deposits and neutralise hydrogen peroxide.
Removing heavy soiling
In case of pre-existing heavy soiling such as already coagulated blood, aspirate 1 litre of mixed 10% AlproJet-W solution (100ml of AlproJet-W to 900ml of water). For this application, use warm water (50-60 degrees). This higher concentration of solution will dissolve contamination and residues which can then be flushed out.
Deep cleaning
AlproJet can be used to complete a deep clean of a system, for example one that has not been used in some time or prior to moving on to the AlproJet system. For deep cleaning, aspirate 3-5 litres of mixed 10% AlproJet-W solution through the system. Use warm water for this process.
Prophylaxis
AlproJet-W can be used to neutralise foaming residues when performing prophylaxis treatments. Using AlproJet-W prior to treatment will prevent interruptions of suction and stop drop-outs.
Prior to completing work with air polishing devices and polishing agents ( e.g Airflow or Sodium Bicarbonate), aspirate 1 litre of mixed 10% AlproJet-W solution (100ml AlproJet-W to 900ml water). Use cold water for this application.
